Tricia’s Abstract Collages are multi-medium art combining a variety of sourced and handmade papers, copper foil, and often include ephemera such as maps, atlas pages, science book pages and materials from nature. Her work is sealed with acrylic varnishes (framed with glass) or Cold Wax (framed without glass). Cold Wax is a paste made from Natural Bees Wax, resin and a solvent that eliminates the use of heat to set the beeswax.

Tricia’s landscape paintings of places she has visited throughout the United States are done in Encaustic on cradled panel. This is a medium combining Natural Bees Wax, Damar Resin and pigments and was originally invented by the ancient Greeks in 4th century BC. All work is done using a heated palette set to 180 degrees to keep the medium melted. A heat gun or torch is used to set the medium between layers. The Beeswax is sustainably collected and processed at Black Birch Farm Apiaries in Essex County, Massachusetts. Damar Resin is from trees in South-East Asia and is used to harden the bees wax and raise its melting point.

Tricia’s pastel paintings are a combination of soft and hard pastels done on sanded paper or panel. Pastels are almost pure pigment that can be laid down on a substrate by stick or brush. Her work concentrates on landscapes and oceanscapes, but also extends to detailed studies and works of skies and clouds. Recent works are more abstract and abbreviated landscapes.

Tricia’s miniatures are works of Art restricted to sizes less than 25 sq inches and are done in a variety of mediums including encaustic and pastel. The Association of Miniature Artists (AMA) considers "miniature" as minute in scale vs. life sized, small in format and size restricted to sizes less than 25 sq inches, are a delicate and painstaking technique that withstands magnification, and are high in quality and exemplify Fine Art with a mastery of composition, color, and values.

An artist’s book as defined by the Smithsonian as “a medium of artistic expression that uses the structure or function of “book” as inspiration—a work of art in book form.” It’s a multi-medium piece of art often constructed of paper both sourced and handmade and regular book structures such as signatures, bindings, hardboard covers etc. The wonderful part is blurring the line between a book and art where the piece is now a three-dimensional assemblage versus a book of pages and words. Many of my Artist’s books are in miniature/small format but others are made from altered books and book. Another term used for an Artist’s Book is a Sculptural Book.
