Journey of Art - March 7th
“Art is never finished, only abandoned.”
Leonardo da Vinci
When to stop?
We often fret over the start of a piece of art, a new creation, a blank canvas. Yet we all seem to agonize over exactly when to stop creating. We are on the journey from start to finish with a path that can be a sweaty climb up the face of a cliff or a long enjoyable stroll through a level field. But no matter what that path is we usually hate to leave it, we often see one more stone to turn, one more view to see, or a side path to something new.
And in the end although there may be one more brush stroke to add, one more blade of grass to draw, one more rough piece of stone to chisel we must step back and say no more. Hurt a little to abandon it, hope the viewer enjoys the outcome as much as we agonized over leaving our journey behind.
And we all look forward to the next time we start a new journey... and agonize over that new ending to it.
